It has been found that HIV infected patients show the decreased level of serum and lymphocyte GSH, which proliferates HIV expression.
Six patients with HIV hemophilia were given Bio-Normalizer, a functional food for over three years to study the effects of BN to increase the level of GSH due to its redox regulation, to prevent the development of AIDS in combination with anti-AIDS drug, and to enhance QOL for infected patients. No difference appeared between the BN group and the non-treated 6 control cases, which were compatible in terms of HIV stage and infectious age, in various HIV infection follow-up markers and the function of cytokine.
However, CD8+ cell count rose significantly in the BN treated patients, and whole serum 2-5 AS activity was observed to have a tendency to drop in comparison with the non-treated group. The result show that there were no side effects, and four out of 6 cases showed QOL index of 8 or above after taking BN, who are now leading ordinary life. Further, we will study the optimum dosage of BN.
